The final matchday!
Premier League MW 38
Crystal Palace vs. Man United
Palace sit 13th in the table and lost in dismal fashion to Everton on Thursday. Man United have had a dismal season and sit sixth in the table heading to Selhurst Park. A win for Palace could see them finish in the top ten. A win for Man United would seal sixth for them and a place in the Europa League next season. It is a must win game for Man United because they do stand a chance of dropping into the Europa Conference League. An interesting game. United beat Palace 1-0 in the reverse fixture.
Arsenal vs. Everton
Arsenal sit fifth in the table two points behind Spurs and play a must win game and hope that Spurs drop points. Everton secure safety for the season after beating Palace on Thursday. Everton can play with relief now and interestingly a win could take them into 15th and would be a nice place to finish if Southampton drop points. Pressure on Arsenal and no pressure on Everton. Everton beat Arsenal 2-1 in the reverse fixture.
Leicester vs. Southampton
Leicester sit ninth in the table while Southampton sit 15th in the table. A win for Leicester could see them finish as high as eighth and seal a place in the top ten. A win for Southampton would keep them 15th and above the relegation contenders. No pressure on either team but Leicester will want to win at home on the final day and Southampton have been extremely poor. Southampton drew with Leicester 2-2 in the reverse fixture.
Brentford vs. Leeds
Brentford sit 11th in the table while Leeds sit 18th in the table. A win for Brentford could get them a place in the top ten while Leeds are fighting for survival. Leeds are level on points with Burnley but have a very poor goal difference and if it stays this way Leeds will be relegated. Leeds have to try and win and hope that Burnley drop points. Even a point for Leeds could be enough if Burnley lose. It is a mammoth task and Brentford will probably win but Leeds will have to give it their all. The reverse fixture was a 2-2 draw.
Burnley vs. Newcastle
Burnley sit 17th in the table and just above the relegation zone on goal difference. Newcastle sit 12th in the table. A win would guarantee safety for Burnley. A draw would be enough if Leeds drop points. A loss would be enough if Leeds lose as well. Newcastle can still finish tenth in the table if results go in their favour. Pressure on Burnley and they are at home. Newcastle have been in good form. An interesting game. Newcastle beat Burnley 1-0 in the reverse fixture.
Man City vs. Aston Villa
City lead the Premier League by a point after drawing against West Ham last weekend. Villa sit 14th in the table and are winless in their last three having drawn the last two. For City it is simple win the game and they are champions. City are at home and have had a week of rest. City need to win. Villa can still finish in the top ten but alot of teams would have drop points. City should win this game and become champions for the fourth time in five seasons. City beat Villa 1-2 in the reverse fixture.
Norwich vs. Tottenham
Bottom of the table Norwich are playing for pride as they take on fourth placed Spurs. Spurs are looking to seal a place in the Champions League. A win for Spurs seals fourth. A draw seals fourth as for Spurs as well. Only a loss could see them drop out of the top four if Arsenal won. Spurs should win this game but Norwich will be playing for pride. Spurs beat Norwich 3-0 in the reverse fixture.
Brighton vs. West Ham
10th placed Brighton beat United last weekend and can still finish as high as eighth. West Ham sit seventh in the table and sit two points behind sixth placed United. Both teams will want to win but a win for West Ham could see them secure Europa League football if United lose. Brighton will want to end the season on a high. An interesting game. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.
Liverpool vs. Wolverhampton
Liverpool sit second in the table a point behind City. Wolves sit eighth in the table and have been extremely poor. Liverpool could win but it would all depend on City’s results if they become champions. City have a stronger goal difference so even a point would not be enough. Wolves haven’t won in a long time and are just playing for pride and are in danger of finishing as low as tenth. Pressure. Liverpool won the reverse fixture 0-1.
La Liga MW 38
Real Madrid welcome Real Betis, Barcelona welcome Villarreal, Real Sociedad entertain Atletico, and Sevilla welcome Bilbao. Real Madrid are champions, Barcelona will finish second and Atletico have secured a place in the top four. Sevilla sit fourth but if they drop points they could finish outside fifth if Betis beat Real Madrid and go above them on goal difference. Sevilla need a draw or more. Betis and Sociedad will finish in a Europa League position most likely. Villarreal sit seventh and in a Conference League place but can still drop out if Bilbao manage to go above them. Levante and Alaves are relegated but Cadiz, Mallorca, and Granada are fighting to survive going into the final day.
Serie A MW 38
Roma travel to Torino, Juventus travel to Fiorentina, Atalanta take on Empoli, Lazio take on Verona, Napoli travel to Spezia, Inter take on Sampdoria, and Milan travel to Sassuolo. Milan have to win if they want to become Serie A champions on their terms. A draw would be enough if Inter lose but if Inter win or draw they would become champions. Napoli have sealed third and Juventus have sealed fourth. Lazio have all but sealed fifth while Roma will have to win to seal sixth. Fiorentina sit in Conference League place and Atalanta can still finish in Europe. Venezia are the only team relegated, two of Salernitana, Cagliari, and Genoa will go down.
Ligue 1 MW 38
Lyon travel to Clermont, Monaco travel to Lens, Marseille take on Strasbourg, PSG take on Metz, Lille take on Rennes, and Nice travel to Reims. PSG are champions. Monaco can still finish as high as second and as low as fourth. The same goes for Marseille and Rennes. Strasbourg, Nice, and Lens all stand a chance at Europe as well. Mets, St.Etienne, and Bordeaux have been relegated. The race for Europe is going to be intense in France.
DFB Pokal Final
Freiburg take on RB Leipzig for the DFB Pokal final. Leipzig have won two, lost two and drawn one. Freiburg have the same form over five games. This should be an even final.
