Weekend Football Preview
Club World Cup - Round of 16
Palmeiras (Brazil) vs. Botafogo (Brazil)
Benfica (Portugal) vs. Chelsea (England)
Paris Saint Germain (France) vs. Inter Miami (USA)
Flamengo (Brazil) vs. Bayern Munich (Germany)
Half of the Round of 16 fixtures take place this weekend starting off with an all Brazilian tie as Palmeiras play Botafogo. This is going to be a great game to watch and you can expect both sets of fans to make a lot of noise. It’s too close to call who will reach the quarters.
Chelsea play Benfica in what is a repeat of the Europa league final in 2013 when Chelsea won through a Branislav Ivanovic header in the final moments of the game. It also happens to be Enzo Fernandez’s former club so that will be special for him. Benfica have good players and they also still have Angel Di Maria in their team. It will be a tough game but we managed to rest several players against Tunis so Caicedo, Palmer, Reece James etc should be fresh for this one. COME ON CHELSEA!!!
PSG take on Inter Miami in another great game because Lionel Messi comes up against his former club. On paper PSG should ease past Miami despite the quality of Messi, Suarez etc. They are top players but very much in the latter stages of their careers nearing the age of 40.
Finally Flamengo take on Bayern Munich in what should be another top game given how Flamengo man handled Chelsea. Bayern though are a great team and the Bundesliga champions so they could easily do the same to Flamengo if the Brazilians are not at the top of their game. Interesting one.
Transfer Gup Shup
Matteo Ruggeri has signed for Atletico from Atalanta.
Cristiano Ronaldo has signed his two year contract extension at Al-Nassr.
Liverpool announced the signing of Milos Kerkez yesterday.
Youssoufa Moukoko is set to move to FC Copenhagen from Borussia Dortmund.
Some great games to watch and there is the Austrian Grand Prix as well plus F1 is out and by all accounts that seems like a fun movie.
Have a great weekend everyone!
