Liverpool vs. Watford
The first game this weekend comes to us from Merseyside as title chasing Liverpool welcome survival chasing Watford. Liverpool sit a point behind Man City while Watford sit three points from safety in 18th. Both teams have a game in hand as well. Liverpool could go top of the league by two points if they win while if Watford win they could go level with Everton. A massive game for both teams. Liverpool won the reverse fixture 0-5.
Brighton vs. Norwich
Brighton sit 13th with a game in hand and are in exremely poor form as they take on Norwich who sit 20th with a game in hand and are also on a poor run of form. Norwich sit eight points from safety and probably will get relegated but they have to fight for the points. Both teams just need a win to gain some momentum. The reverse fixture was a 0-0 draw.
Burnley vs. Man City
Burnley sit 19th in the table with three games in hand and four points from safety as they take on leaders Man City who sit a point clear at the top with a game in hand. Burnley have lost their last three and really need to start winning if they want to survive this season. Man City drew before the break and are right in the middle of a title race now. By the time this game starts City could be second so there will be pressure on both teams to get a result. Another brilliant game expected. City won the reverse fixture 2-0.
Leeds vs. Southampton
Leeds sit 16th in the table seven points above the relegation zone and having won their last two games. Southampton sit 11th in the table with a game in hand but have lost their last three. Leeds got last gasp wins in their last two games but it has helped them in their suvival hopes. Southampton are looking to bounce back after some poor run of form. Leeds have a good chance to gain more points while Southampton are looking to finish in the top 10. Southampton beat Leeds 1-0 win the reverse fixture.
Wolverhampton vs. Aston Villa
8th placed Wolves are still fighting for a place in Europe as they take on Villa who sit 9th with a game in hand but 10 points behind Wolves. Both teams lost their last game and will be looking to bounce back, it should be an interesting game. Wolves won the reverse fixture 2-3.
Man United vs. Leicester
Saturday ends with another good game as 6th placed United who have a game in hand take on 10th placed Leicester who have three games in hand. Both teams won their last game in the league but United’s last overall game was a loss to Atletico in the Champions League. United sit four points from 4th and are still in the race for the spot but their recent run of form has been poor. Leicester can actually still get into Europe but they would have to continue winning games. It’s a game with stakes and Leicester could manage something. Leicester won the reverse fixture 4-2.
West Ham vs. Everton
7th placed West Ham have no games in hand as they take on 17th placed Everton who have three games in hand. West Ham have fallen off the race for 4th in recent games but are still fighting for a place in Europe. Everton sit three points above the relegation zone but need to continue picking up points to survive this season. Lampard will not be welcome at West Ham but pressure is on both teams to pick up points in this game. West Ham won the reverse fixture 0-1.
Tottenham vs. Newcastle
5th placed Tottenham have a game in hand as they welcome 14th placed Newcastle who have a game in hand as well. Spurs have won four of their last five and are in good form as they look to stay within touching distance of 4th placed Arsenal. Newcastle have lost their last two games but have not been poor and have done well defensively in their games. A big game for Tottenham because they need to win but Newcastle will want to pick some point as well. Tottenham won the reverse fixture 2-3.
Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal
The final game comes to us on Monday from Selhurst Park as 12th placed Palace unbeaten in their last four games with a game in hand take on 4th placed Arsenal who have four wins in their last five and two games in hand. A win for Arsenal would keep them in the top four while a win for Palace could possibly take them up to 9th in the table. A big London derby and one that should be an exciting encounter. The reverse fixture was a 2-2 draw.
La Liga MW 30
Villarreal travel to Levante, Real Madrid travel to Celta Vigo, Atletico take on Alaves, Barcelona welcome Sevilla, and Real Sociedad take on Espanyol. Real Madrid sit nine points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand while Sevilla, Barcelona, and Atletico make up the top four. Barcelona beat Real in the El Clasico before the international break and the club are in a good period of form. Sevilla have fallen off and a they could drop down to 4th if they lose to Barcelona and Atletico win. An interesting wekeend in Spain.
Serie A MW 31
Lazio travel to Sassuolo, Atalanta take on Napoli, Roma travel to Sampdoria, Juventus welcome Inter, and Milan entertain Bologna. Milan sit three points clear at the top of the table with Napoli, Inter, and Juventus making up the top four. Juventus are now eight points clear of 5th. Roma and Atalanta are level on points. It’s a big weekend in Italy with Milan facing the opportunity of increasing their lead at the top. Two big games in the context of th title race and the race for Europe.
Bundesliga MW 28
Hoffenheim welcome Bochum, Bayern travel to Freiburg, Leverkusen take on Hertha Berlin, Frankfurt take on Furth, and Dortmund welcome Leipzig. Bayern sit six points clear at the top of the table with Dortmund, Leverkusen, and Leipzig making up the top four. Freiburg and Hoffenheim sit a point outside 4th. Big games in Germany this weekend and if Bayern drop points they could see their lead cut at the top. Dortmund need to beat Leipzig and hope Freiburg can do something.
Ligue 1 MW 30
Nice welcome Rennes, Lille take on Bordeaux, Marseille travel to St.Etienne, Monaco travel to Metz, Lyon welcome Angers, and PSG take on Lorient. PSG sit 12 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 with Marseille, Rennes, and Nice making up the top four. Lille and Monaco sit 6th and 7th while Lyon sit 10th. PSG are in a world of their own as they drop and gain points with no real consequence. The top four race is an interesting one but Lille, Monaco and especially Lyon need to go on a winning run.
